When I was 12 I wrote to Lego to ask what I had to do to work there when I grew up. They actually wrote me a very nice letter back! While I don't work for Lego today, I am an artist and often use Lego bricks in my work and with my students. The Statue of Liberty was the first big Lego set I ever built. One day I was wondering how many other large sets had been created and I figured that a lot of other people were asking that same question. So, this is my compilation of the largest Lego sets ever made! I hope you enjoy these great creations as much as I do and help pass on a love of Lego table to others.
Each set of LEGOs comes with a suggested age range. This is based on the difficulty of putting the creation together (NOTE: Children under 3 should not play with, or have access to these sets due to many small pieces on which they could choke!) Detailed instructions and diagrams are always included with the sets and are relatively easy to follow. Don't worry if your child accidentally loses the instructions. I even came home with a few new toys, a silly cheap plastic Mig kit from grafix and a set of Tudor pewter figures (bought at Carisbrooke castle). I've been collecting those pewter figures they sell at historic sites since I was about 5 and have a quite large collection now (see below), it's normally the same 5 romans and 5 knights at every site that they've been making my entire life, it was nice to be able to add something slightly different. The Tudors came with a basic little board game as well, we didn't get a chance to play it, but it looked like it would be playable if not overly engrossing.
